Staffordshire-based Amey, has been working with Staffordshire Alliance, a partnership between four global construction businesses, to deliver the forty five space parking facility for the benefit of the Club. Amey encourages all of its employees to deliver projects in the local communities in which they work, and gives every employee one extra day paid leave per year to do this. These projects are for the benefit of voluntary sector organisations providing activities to local people.

Amey wanted to help support Eccleshall Eagles Junior Football Club’s endeavours this year, having seen first-hand the work that the Club has done over the past ten years to create a brand new site with five grass pitches and a modern club house, for their twelve teams from the ages of six to sixteen.

Staffordshire Alliance was able to support Amey in this project with the provision of 15 lorry loads of material to form the base and substance of the car park, while Amey’s volunteers constructed the car park over a week in October.

Jeremy Pert, the Community Liaison Officer for Eccleshall Eagles Junior Football Club commented at the time:-

“Over the past ten years many people across the community have come together to pitch in to help build Eccleshall Eagles a new ground for the benefit of children locally. This is probably one of the most innovative arrangements where this new car park could not have been delivered without the active support and co-operation of both partners – Amey and the Staffordshire Alliance - in providing both skills and expertise, as well as materials. One without the other would not have got this much needed car park built.

I would like to thank both businesses for being so supportive and for providing something of real community value.”

Steve Jones, Account Director for Amey, said: “Offering support to the local community is a key part of what Amey does, and is actively supported by our partner, Staffordshire County Council. We encourage all of our employees to give something back, using their specialist skill sets or their time to help on a voluntary basis. Our team were delighted to support Eccleshall Eagles and, working alongside other construction companies in the area, help to build the new car park. It just goes to show what can be achieved when everyone pulls together. I hope that the young people of Eccleshall and their families can benefit from this work for many years to come.”

Mark Banham, the Senior Civils Engineer at the project from the Staffordshire Alliance said:-

“The Staffordshire Alliance has been working in the Norton Bridge area for the past four years to build additional capacity on the West Coast main line and to be involved with this legacy project through recycling redundant material seems a fitting way to bring the project to a conclusion. Working collaboratively together has made this whole project become a reality.”

Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader Mark Winnington, said: “It’s rewarding to see our partnership delivering not only major projects to boost jobs and growth in Staffordshire, but also making a positive impact in our communities. This will bring long-term benefits to Eccleshall Eagles – improving facilities for players and their families.”
